|Parking Info for A Conference|
If families park in the Village Hall lot tomorrow, please repsect the coned-off spots. They are reserved for a special event with Itasca's Mayor. Please do not move the cones.
If you do park in the Village Hall lot, the Police and Fire Departments asked that families NOT walk through the back end of their buildings. Please walk east along Irving Park Road and enter the pool the same way vehicles enter.
Parking is also available at the Nature Center. The walkway connecting the Nature Center to the pool parking lot is now cleared.

|Clarification on volunteering for Saturday|
I will try to clear up potential confusion on volunteering for Saturday...
The recently sent pdf schedule is the volunteer schedule for the meet events only. It does not cover Itasca volunteers for the following: Hospitality Tent Volunteers, "A" Hospitality Breakfast and "A" Hospitality Lunch.
Please disregard any reminder from the website for "A" CONFERENCE. However, if you receive a reminder for the following: Hospitality Tent Volunteers, "A" Hospitality Breakfast and "A" Hospitality Lunch, that IS your reminder for those specific responsibilities; which are: volunteering as a server at the volunteers tent and bringing food donations for the volunteer's tent for either breakfast and/or lunch.

This Saturday is just 3 weeks away from B Conference...and 4 weeks away from A Conference Championships!
YOUR VOLUNTEERISM IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER DURING THESE 2 Conference meets. If you have ever attended a Conference meet, you know it takes hundreds of people to make these meets successful.
If you plan on volunteering for any of the Judging or Starter/Referee positions, you MUST have a valid certification. The only way to get certified or update your certification is to attend one of these training classes being offered. Certifications are only valid for 2 years and then must be renewed.
Please plan on attending now. As the season progresses, less class opportunities will be available. DON'T WAIT!
HERE ARE THE NEXT CLASSES...
- Butterfield has added a judge (NO starter/ref) training on Thursday, June 29th at 7:00 p.m at the Butterfield Park District, 21W730 Butterfield Rd, Lombard, IL 60148. The information is also listed on the DSDC website. Please let your volunteers know of this opportunity.
- Villa Park will host a Judge Class followed by a Starter Referee Class at Jefferson Pool, 341 N. Harvard Ave, Villa Park 60181 on Friday June 30th at 8:30 a.m. Since it is being held at the pool we are asking that all participants please bring a device that can be connected to WIFI (phone, tablet or computer) and headphones to be able to watch the USA swimming videos. - Wood Dale will be hosting a Starter/Ref Class at 7pm on Wednesday, July 5th at the Wood Dale Park District, 111 E. Foster Ave., Wood Dale, in the Board Room. This is also listed on the DSDC website.

It's hard to believe, we are half way through our season of meets...and Conference Championships are just a little over 4 weeks away!
We need ALL families to volunteer between the two Conference meets. If you plan on volunteering for any of the Judging positions or Starter/Referee, you MUST have a valid certification. Villa Park will be running a Judge class that will be followed by a starter/referee class. It will be held on Monday June 26th at 7:00 pm at the Iowa Community Center. Address is 338 N. Iowa Ave, Villa Park in Room 9.

|IMPORTANT VOLUNTEER REQUEST|
As many of you know, two key volunteer positions at swim meets are the Referee and Starter. Besides myself, the team has only 2 other certified individuals capable of working those positions. This Saturday, one of those 2 other certified volunteers is not available to work. As we scramble to get volunteers at many of the other needed positions, we need some volunteers to move up from timing to judging and judges to move up to referee and starter. This requires taking those specific training classes I have posted over the last few weeks.
For the first time in the conference, timing does not require a training class, so EVERYONE can time. Those that have timed for one swim season, are eligible to take the judging training class for certification as a judge. And the judges that have judged for one swim season, are eligible to be a referee/starter, after having taken a referee/starter training class.
As the team graduates swimmers, parents too move on beyond the team. Those that have been judges, referee and starters are gone. The team counts on the many volunteers that have just timed every season to move up to other positions so we have plenty of depth in case of situations like Saturday when we have just two (including myself) people certified to volunteer as a referee/starter.
I hope many of you have taken advantage of the training classes offered. If so, please let me know what new certification you have trained for this year. The team is desparate for new judges, referees and starters. Our depth in those volunteer poisitions are very thin. Please give serious thought to stepping up your training to those positions.
